Katharine Rabson Stark SEND Link Governor

I have been a governor in the Uckfield area since 2011, predominantly working with a number of small rural primaries. During this time as Chair of Framfield School in 2015 I led the development of a Federation with Blackboys, a neighbouring school, one of the first in the Wealden area.  Since then I was appointed as a National Lead Governor for 4 years, and now work as a Consultant Governor for the local authority working with schools in difficulties, and mentoring new Chairs.  I am a passionate advocate for partnership, the school to school support system and the power of a mutually trusting community of staff, governors, parents and students.  I am currently Vice Chair at Uckfield College where I am also their Safeguarding Governor and Chair of the Well-being Committee.  I worked for 20 years in Higher Education where I worked in partnerships and strategic development, but I re-trained as an artist and now make and sell ceramic and textile art, chairing the artist led gallery, Chalk, in Lewes.  I have three children all of whom are currently at Uckfield College.

I was a dentist for over 30 years working, initially working in hospital and then going on to own and run my own practice in Horam. I also have some experience of teaching and training adults within the social care sector.

I have lived in Heathfield for 34 years and therefore have a good understanding of the local community.

I became a co-opted governor at Maynards Green in 2023.

I am currently the co-chair, with specific responsibility for Safe-guarding, Curriculum and Data and the Training and development of Governors. Two of my grandchildren attend Maynards Green School.

I am Chairman of Age Concern Heathfield and District and also run a fortnightly luncheon club for the elderly. In Punnetts Town.

My interests include walking, gardening, and crafts, particularly embroidery, quilting and crochet.

Ben Jones Pupil Premium and Sports Premium Link Governor

My name is Ben and have lived in the Heathfield area for most of my life. I have two children who currently attend Maynards Green. I am self employed, and working towards becoming a qualified accountant. My hobbies are Go Karting, gardening, and beer tasting.

Helen Evans Curriculum and Data Link Governor

My name is Helen Evans and I have been a governor at Maynards Green since 2022. I have been a teacher for nearly 20 years and currently work at a local primary school in East Sussex. I am passionate about education, with my specialism in English. My two children are currently in Year 6 and Year 3 at Maynards Green and are thoroughly enjoying their education. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, exploring new places and taking our labrador for a muddy walk in the woods. When I can, I like to read, mainly children's novels, which I can use in the classroom.

Sarah Barnard Health and Safety Link Governor and Vice Chair

I have lived in Horam since a small child, and attended Maynards Green School myself, so I have a personal connection to the village and school.

I am a Christian, attending Horam Chapel and an active member of the local community, so am particularly keen for the school to also be an integral part of the immediate area.

Graduating from the University of Brighton with a BA in Business and a MA in Change Management, I went on and continue too, manage the national Service Team of a large swimming pool company.

Throughout the time I have been a parent at Maynards Green, I have been a member of the Friends, going on to fill the roles of Secretary and now Vice Chair, further demonstrating my commitment to the success of the school.

As a Parent Governor, I can bring to the Governing Board, skills in Human Resources and Health and Safety, but most importantly how to implement change effectively.
