Healthy Eating and School Meals
Maynards Green Primary School's Food Policy aims to promote the health and well-being of the entire school community by helping pupils gain the skills and understanding to make responsible, healthy food choices. We offer breakfast club provision and ensure all children have access to healthy snacks, with EYFS and KS1 receiving free fruit or vegetables daily.
Our school meals, provided by Chartwells, meet mandatory School Food Standards and offer autonomous choices for pupils, always including meat, fish, and a plant-based protein option.
For packed lunches, we ask parents to follow Eatwell Guide principles, including starchy foods, fruit, vegetables, and protein, while strictly prohibiting nuts and chocolate spread.
Water is the only permitted drink brought from home, and we teach cooking and nutrition through our curriculum, supported by enrichment activities like Healthy Eating Week and Gardening Club.
Critically, we are a nut-free school and work closely with parents to accommodate all specialist dietary requirements, allergies, and selective eating patterns.
We are pleased to use ParentPay for all school meal payments. This secure, convenient online system allows you to pay for your child's lunches easily and quickly using a credit or debit card, or bank transfer.
How it Works:
-
Payment: All meal payments must be made in advance using your secure ParentPay account at app.parentpay.com. If you do not have an account yet, please contact the school office for your activation details.
-
Meal Choice: Although payment is managed online, your child chooses their preferred lunch (from the daily menu options) when they arrive in their classroom during morning registration. This ensures they get the meal they want on the day.
